Grand Targhee Resort Discontinues Summer Explorers Program for 2009

(Alta, WY -- May 14, 2009) After an extensive review of current business plans and budgets, Grand Targhee Resort has decided to discontinue the Summer Explorers program for 2009.

"As a result of the economic downturn, over the past several weeks we have had to scrutinize every program we offer to ensure they make good business sense and contribute to the health of the resort. Although many have enjoyed the Summer Explorers program over the years, it is not a program that is able to sustain itself and we have made the very difficult decision to discontinue it," said Shannon Brooks Hamby, Communications Manager.

For Parents looking for alternatives, the following options are available in Teton County, Idaho:

The Learning Academy offers a summer camp program for children age 3 to 12, June 8 through August 28. A registration form is available for download on their website at http://the-learning-academy.org. For more information contact them at thelearningacademy@gmail.com or 208-354-7898.

The Teton Valley Community School also offers a summer camp program for children 3 and up, June 15 through August 21. For more information, contact the Teton Valley Community School at 208-787-0445 or visit them at 192 Birch Street in Victor.

Grand Targhee Resort will continue to offer great family activities like hiking, mountain biking, events and concerts throughout the summer.
