Grand Targhee Resort is on a path to sustainability built upon a responsibility to the environment and community. A central mission of the resort, as outlined in our Sustainability Charter, is to limit its impact on the local and global environment by making integrated changes that address waste management, energy use, and local ecosystems. The mountain environment that provides us with unique and amazing experiences throughout the year is vulnerable to global environmental change and degradation. Increasing emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases threaten to change the natural environment in irreversible ways. Grand Targhee is prioritizing sustainability by taking powerful steps to manage its carbon footprint.
In 2007, Grand Targhee Resort became the first North American organization to carry out an in-depth inventory of greenhouse gas emissions through The Climate Registry, and in 2009 received the NSAA Clif Bar Golden Eagle Award for Overall Environmental Excellence.
