All-Star Line Up Set to Perform at 4th Annual Targhee Fest July 18-20
The talented and award winning musician, Emmylou Harris, will headline Grand Targhee Resort’s 4th Annual Targhee Fest, a three-day weekend festival of acoustic-based Americana, Folk, Blues and Roots music. Music, arts, crafts, special foods and activities kick off at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18th with headliners Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi in Soul Stew Revival with special guest Scrapomatic performing at 8:00 p.m. The festival continues at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday headliners include the Taj Mahal Trio and Emmylou Harris. Lyle Lovett and his Large Band of 17 musicians and back-up singers will close out the weekend with a 5:00 p.m. performance on Sunday, July 20th. Festival attendees will also enjoy intimate evening performances at the Trap Bar Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 10:00 p.m., with Moses Guest, Friday night ($5 cover) and Tony Furtado, Saturday night ($10 cover).

Susie Barnett-Bushong, a Victor, ID resident, will be stepping down as VP of Marketing at Grand Targhee Resort July 31st after formally announcing her resignation to staff and management in June.

Grand Targhee Resort Going Smoke Free!
Grand Targhee Resort is committed to creating a healthier community and environment for all visitors and employees. This commitment takes a significant step forward this summer when the Alta, Wyoming, full-service resort proclaimed the entire base area to become smoke free. This enhanced smoke free policy goes into effect Sunday, June 1st with the resort’s official summer operating season scheduled for Saturday, June 21st.

W.A.R.W.S. Crowns Grand Targhee Resort “Wyoming’s Best Tasting Drinking Water in 2008”
Grand Targhee Resort’s drinking water was recently honored for serving the best tap water in the state of Wyoming by the Wyoming Association of Rural Water Sytems. “Our resort is fortunately located right in the heart of the Tetons which results in pristine wells created from the mountains’ snow melt and rain run-offs,” says Ron Overson – Resort Water Treatment Operator.

Annual Anheuser-Busch Spring Snow Games
The Bud Games will once again be celebrated on the slopes of Grand Targhee Resort March 14th-16th. The weekend kick-off begins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday the 14th with an après ski party in the Trap Bar with hors d’oeuvres, compliments of Anheuser-Busch, and music by regional favorite “Derrik and the Dynamos.”

'She Teles' is Back Due to Popular Demand!
With demand dictating a second clinic, Grand Targhee Ski & Snowboard School is offering an additional Women’s Telemark Clinic on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3rd, 2008. A yoga session from 8:00 am to 9:00 am will kick off the clinic, and an après ski party will end the day’s instruction. This clinic is specifically designed for all levels of telemark skiers. It will be coached by women instructors who enjoy helping other women learn a new ski discipline or perfect their tele turns. A discounted clinic price of $121 is being offered, which includes an all-day lift ticket or $80 for the clinic
only.

We're Hosting the Eastern Idaho Special Olympic Games!

Grand Targhee Resort will host the Eastern Idaho Regional Special Olympic competition on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008. The Eastern Idaho Region includes teams from Idaho Falls, Rexburg, St. Anthony, Salmon, Blackfoot, Pocatello, Rupert, Burley, and Twin Falls. Registration for all events will begin at 9:00 a.m. Opening ceremonies are slated to begin at 10:00 a.m. and the competition at 10:30 a.m. on Targhee’s “Hamster Loop” Nordic track located below the resort’s third parking lot.

Grand Targhee Resort and NSAA celebrate National Safety Week
National Safety Awareness Week (Jan. 19-25th) is sponsored by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) and celebrated each year to promote skier/snowboarder safety. The overall rate of reported ski injuries has declined by 50% since the early 1970’s and with the collaborative efforts between ski areas across the country and the NSAA, the initiative continues to make the ski slopes safer for everyone. Grand Targhee Resort is hosting a variety of events to help promote “Safety on the slopes.”

New Public Relations & Strategic Alliance Manager Joins Grand Targhee Resort
Grand Targhee Resort’s VP of Marketing, Susie Barnett-Bushong, announced that David Hudacsko will assume public relations duties as well as the newly formed position as Strategic Alliance Manager. His responsibilities will range from managing and developing the resort’s partnerships with both endemic and non-endemic parties, to being the resort’s spokes person and public relations manager.

WorldCast Anglers Expand Outfitting Business
WorldCast Anglers, the only Wyoming-based fly fishing operation permitted to guide in Idaho, continue to enhance their position as the premier fly fishing outfitter in the Teton area. Geordie Gillett and family, WorldCast partners and Grand Targhee Resort owners, along with Mike Dawes, WorldCast President, partner and guide, and Jim Hickey, Vice President, partner and head guide, announced today the purchase of Hyde Outfitters and Last Chance Lodge in Island Park, Idaho. The purchase gives WorldCast a permit to guide clients on the Henry’s Fork, their second permit on both the South Fork of the Snake and Teton Rivers, and a lodge, restaurant, and fly shop in Island Park, ID.

Rodney Crowell at the Trap Bar
Don't miss this big event! Rodney Crowell will be playing one night only on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Grand Targhee's Trap Bar. Grammy-award winner Crowell has composed ten top-10 Country and Contemporary singles, such as Ain’t Living Love like This and Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight. Tim McGraw (Please Remember Me), Lee Ann Womack (Ashes by Now), Keith Urban (Making Memories Of Us) and many others have scored hits with Crowell songs and he’s put out a dozen albums of his own. He’s also well known for his long-time collaboration with Emmylou Harris.

USSA Mogul Competition
The Grand Targhee Ski Team has organized a USSA sanctioned mogul competition for January 12th & 13th. The team and Grand Targhee Resort will host several freestyle clubs from the intermountain region throughout the weekend. The actual competition start times for both days will be 10:00am sharp at the top of the race course on Big Thunder.

Winter Trails Day- Free XC Skiing Lessons & Snowshoe Tours
In conjunction with National Winter Trails Day, January 12, 2007, Grand Targhee Resort will offer free track skiing on their Nordic trail system. USSMA Randonnee Race
Grand Targhee is excited to host the Grand Targhee Randonnee Race, Jan. 12th & 13th! This race is the second stop on the National Ski Mountaineering Race Series. This event is open to the general public with both race and recreation divisions for each of the several competition categories. Both the race and recreation courses are located inside Grand Targhee Resort’s permit area. The recreation course climbs 3,200 feet and the race course climbs 5,000 feet.

Half Day Telemark & Skate Skiing Clinics
Grand Targhee’s Ski and Snowboard School is offering their annual Telemark and Skate Skiing clinics January 5th and 6th. The Telemark clinic, slated for January 5th takes place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at a discounted rate of $38 for clinic only, or $80 which includes the clinic and a full-day lift ticket. The Skate ski clinic takes place on Sunday, January 6th and is also offered at a discounted rate of $38 for the clinic or $44 which includes a trail pass.

Sacajawea Lift Opens on Monday!
Resort officials have announced that on Monday, December 10th, five hundred additional acres of terrain will be accessible to all Targhee snow sliders via Sacajawea, our high-speed, detachable quad chairlift located on Peaked Mountain. Over 2,000 acres of lift-served terrain will be available via the resort's five lifts.

Women's Telemark and Skate Clinics
Grand Targhee Resort is once again offering their popular She Teles and She Skates clinics! The telemark clinic is slated for Sat., Dec. 15th from 8am-4:30pm. The day begins with a yoga session and ends with an apres ski social. The skate clinic takes place on Sun., Dec. 16th from 1pm-3pm. Both clinics are designed for all levels and coached by female instructors.

Grand Targhee to host a Biomimicry Workshop
An evening workshop conducted by the Biomimicry Guild, a consortium of cutting-edge scientists, on July 25th, 2007 at 7:00pm. Biomimicry (from bios, meaning life, and mimesis, meaning to imitate) is a design discipline that studies nature’s best ideas, and then imitates these designs and processes to solve human problems. Studying a leaf to invent a better solar cell is just one example of this innovation inspired by nature.

New Resort Naturalist Programs
Grand Targhee announces complimentary Resort Naturalist Programs for the entire family beginning on Friday, June 22nd. Two separate programs will be offered this summer: a Friday Evening Campfire Program beginning Friday evening, June 22, complete with songs, s’mores and storytelling about the wonders of living and visiting this special place. Fireside Sustainability Evening
Grand Targhee Resort will host a Sustainability “story-telling” evening for the community at the resort on Tuesday evening, June 26th with Pete Sibley, Jackson, Wyoming’s musical artist, story-teller and community activist for sustainability. “Sustainability” is defined as meeting the needs of the current population without compromising the ability for future generations to thrive. Grand Targhee Resort has embraced this concept in several programs initiated at the resort over the past five years and most recently hired Christina Thomure as its full-time Director of Sustainable Operations.

Peaked Closed
Grand Targhee Resort, in preparation for future lift expansion on Peaked Mountain, is currently logging on Peaked as part of their Master Development Plan. The resort will utilize a helicopter logging method which minimizes ground disturbance. Woody Contracting, Inc out of Summerville, Oregon will coordinate this seven-day-a-week operation and it is expected to take approximately one month to complete, weather permitting.

Targhee in the Community
Grand Targhee Resort employees recently assisted in a major restoration project on Fox Creek, a major tributary of the Teton River. After seeping through glacial moraine in the foothills, Fox Creek re-emerges in the central part of the Teton Valley from dozens of perennial springs.

Grand Targhee Hosts Successful Hazardous Waste Collection Day
Nearly 350 gallons of liquid, flammable materials, 100 lbs. of solid hazardous and electronic waste, 10 gallons of used motor oil and 2 gallons of used anti-freeze were collected last Monday at Grand Targhee’s first ever Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection day.

She Rides Snowboard Clinic
Grand Targhee Resort will host the 5th Annual ’She Rides’ Snowboard Clinic February 23-25, 2007. Participants of all skill levels can expect five hours of daily instruction accompanied by video analysis each afternoon. In addition to improving individual riding skills, the organizers hope to foster a friendly, supportive atmosphere by infusing the clinic with social outlets.

Teton Adaptive Sports, Inc. of Jackson Hole recently donated two Bi-ski chairs to Grand Targhee Resort, one
for adults and one for children. Designed and built by Mountain Man in Bozeman, these chairs are valued at over $5,500.

Major Waste Reduction Effort
Grand Targhee recently diverted 8,000 lbs. of cardboard from the local landfill using their new baler. This equipment was acquired by the Alta, Wyoming resort at the beginning of their winter season to reduce their recyclables handling and hauling costs. The materials were hauled to Western Recycling in Idaho Falls and included in this initial load was 1,000 lbs. of aluminum and plastic.

U.S. Ski Team Day
The U.S. Ski Team announced that Grand Targhee Resort will host “U.S. Ski Team
Day,” a promotional event to benefit Ski Team athletes. This program will take place on Saturday, February 10th, 2007 at more than 65 alpine and cross-country ski areas across the nation, including Grand Targhee Resort in Alta, Wyoming. Grand Targhee will donate one dollar for every adult full-day lift ticket or Nordic Trail Pass sold on February 10th.

Targhee Environmental Foundation
Founded by the employees of Grand Targhee Resort to enhance the environmental quality of Teton Valley, the Targhee Institute Environmental Foundation is pleased to announce this year’s grant opportunities. Grand Targhee XC Freestyle Race
Grand Targhee Resort Ski and Snowboard School is hosting a Freestyle Cross-Country Race Sunday, January 21, 2007 and is open to all ability levels. Events include a competitive class 10k, a sport class 5k, and a kids 2.5k race (ages 14 and younger). Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Ski and Snowboard School office. Race time is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. sharp. Entry fee is $10 for those with a Nordic season pass, $15 without a Nordic season pass and $7 for kids.

Starting tomorrow, December 15, 2006, Sacajawea Lift will be open along with our four other lifts. All five lifts at the resort will be open serving 2,000 skiable acres of terrain.

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, November 29, 2006 all lifts will be in operation with the exception of Sacajawea Lift which will remain closed. Regular ticket pricing. Early season conditions exist, please ski/ride with caution. 6k of Nordic trails also available.

Thanksgiving Opening
We will kick off our 37th winter season with limited Nordic track skiing and a partial opening of resort services on Thursday, November 23, 2006. Resort officials are waiting for an additional 12”-14” of snow before lifts will operate.

Opening Weekend & What's New
Our 37th winter season is scheduled to begin once we receive more snow. We need 12" to 14" of additional snow fall to open. Once we receive the snow, we will expedite getting the resort open. Until then, stay tuned and think SNOW.
