Grand Targhee Resort Announces Solar Eclipse 2017 Camping Details

Solar Eclipse of 2017

(Alta, WY,  March 15, 2017)On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will occur and Grand Targhee Resort is in the path of complete totality. On the day of the eclipse, Grand Targhee Resort will only be open to guests who are camping and who have purchased a scenic chair lift ticket or parking pass for the day. Due to high demand, the resort will only sell a limited number of lift tickets, camping and parking passes.

Fun Facts About The Eclipse

  • Only certain destinations will reach total darkness
  • Total darkness in Alta, Wyoming will last approximately 2 minutes 16 seconds
  • Total solar eclipses are rare
  • A solar eclipse happens at New Moon
  • This is the first total solar eclipse in the United States in 38 years
  • Next total eclipse won’t happen until 2024
