Preferred Purchasing

Given the number and variety of products the resort purchases, we are constantly on the lookout for products that are:

• Recyclable
• Make use of recycled or preferred materials
• Are better for the health of employees and guests
• Are intelligently (as opposed to excessively) packaged

Check out these examples of our purchasing guidelines at work:

• The resort is beginning to use environmentally & human health friendly cleaning products.
• Throughout the resort, Targhee uses bulk soap, lotion, and shampoo dispensers to reduce the waste of once-used soap bars and lotion/shampoo bottles.
• Our Food and Beverages department is experimenting with disposable cups that are made of biodegradable cornstarch instead of plastic, thereby making them compost able.
• Our offices currently use paper that is 30% post-consumer waste – and are looking to increase that percentage soon.
• Retail outlets are experimenting with the use of biodegradable bags that contain no plastic.

Opportunities for improving purchasing practices are as varied as the products we purchase are diverse.  Watch for many new and exciting projects to be added to this list in the future.
