THE
MEAT PUPPETS
with Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real
Friday, September 3, 2010
According to MTV.com, “out of all of the bands that made...(alt-rock)
a
towering force in the American underground during the mid-'80s, the Meat Puppets lasted the
longest, surviving where other bands fell apart.”
Rolling Stone Magazine began its coverage of the band in their early
days by noting that “packed into its grooves are plenty of reasons why
this young Phoenix trio may become the Creedence Clearwater Revival of
the Eighties.” By the mid-1990s, the magazine had noted of the band's
commercial progression that “fifteen years ago the meat Puppets were
true originals – hardcore punks on acid. The passage of time has not
only thickened their psychedelic stew but honed the band into the
tightest trio in rock since ZZ Top.”
Lukas Nelson and the
Promise of the Real will open for The Meat Puppets, with several additional acts to perform throughout the evening. Tickets are no longer available online and can be purchased at our Activity Center, Habitat in Driggs, Tobacco Row in Jackson Hole and other regional locations (see bottom of page for complete list). Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the
show. The first 150 ticket purchases online receive an autographed
poster of the band (to be picked up at the gate). After party in the Trap with the Salamanders. No cover!
