Grand Targhee USSMA Ski Mountaineering Classic

The Grand Targhee USSMA Ski Mountaineering Classic Race is kick-off race for 2011 National Ski Mountaineering Race Series held through out the 2010/2011 winter at some of the premier ski resorts in North America. The Grand Targhee randonnee race will be a qualifying race for the 2011 US Worlds Team. The Race Division will have 5000’ of climbing and the Recreation Division will have 3000’ of climbing.
Grand Targhee Resort will offer a lodging package deal for racers. To book loding packages for racers please call 1 800.827.4433. Grand Targhee Resort will also make tickets available if you want to ski after the race for $30.00
All racers must have the following items to compete:
- 1. All racers must wear a helmet
- 2. Beacon operating in the 457 MHz frequency.
- 3. An avalanche probe of at least 190 centimeters. Probe poles are acceptable.
- 4. Safety straps or ski leashes as required in the ski areas.
- 5. Climbing skins.
- 6. A commercially-made snow shovel.
- 7. Wind breaker jacket
