Event: 3rd Annual Teton Adaptive Sports Fun Race, Saturday March 3rd
Goal - To raise money for Teton Adaptive Sports (A Chapter of Disabled Sports USA, Tax ID#06-1741611).
What is Teton Adaptive Sports? - Teton Adaptive Sports (TAS) was formed in the spring of 2005. Our mission is to promote and support sports and recreation opportunities for people with disabilities living in and visiting the Greater Teton Area. TAS was initially created as a support organization for the Adaptive Ski Programs at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Grand Targhee Resort; to provide funding for adaptive ski equipment, instructor training, and financial assistance for individuals taking adaptive ski lessons. The summer of 2008 marked efforts by Teton Adaptive Sports to encourage and assist with the development of year round adaptive opportunities. Our model is to partner with existing recreation providers to enhance their ability to deliver a quality experience, while developing our own “in house” possibilities. The core TAS belief is that active participation in sports and recreation promotes individuals’ physical strength, develops confidence and self esteem, forges relationships, and contributes to a level of enjoyment and quality of life that otherwise might not be experienced.
Where does the money go? - All funds raised from the 3rd Annual Teton Adaptive Sports Fun Race will go to scholarships for adaptive lessons, to support the School Programs as well as for equipment purchases.
Team/Individual entry fee – minimum entry fee will be $100/team/individual however main prize will go to the team/individual that is able to raise the most amount of money. Maximum number of people per team will be 5.
Race structure: The race will take place from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM with award ceremony at 2:15 PM. There will be 5 Award categories with the emphasis on fun and the big prizes will go to the 1st two prizes:
- Best Team Costumes
- Most $ raised by team
- Closest Predicted Time – prior to race teams would predict amount of time it will take them to complete race course
- Fastest Overall Team
- Fastest Individual time
