Grand
Teton Ultras/Trail
Marathon
  September 5 - 6, 2009

Grand
Targhee Resort is teaming up with Grand Teton Races for a
world-class endurance foot race through the Tetons.  Now in its fifth
year, this race offers runners a choice of distances: 10K (new this year) a
Trail Marathon, a 50-mile or a 100-mile.  All races utilize the same 25
mile loop: a combination of single track and service road, and just three miles
of pavement per loop.  The 10K loop course will start and finish at the
base of the resort and run clockwise around Rick’s Basin.  There will be
one water only aid station on the course (at the 4.5 mile point) and runners
must carry their own bottle or hydration system.  Entry fee is $35 and
registration is limited to 60 competitors.  All 50 and 100 mile
participants are required to donate a minimum of 8 hours of trail work or
volunteer service at a trail race in their area.  All racers must register
by September 3 at Active.com.  For more information visit http://www.dreamchaserevents.com/gtr/gtr_details.htm.

First Annual Downhill Mountain Bike Race  September 12, 2009

Come on out for our first Downhill MTB
Race!  The course features our new and most technical downhill descent,
upper Buffalo drop to the lower portion of Sticks n Stones, and is for
intermediate to advanced riders.  The race begins at Mary’s Saddle and
follows rocky, fast singletrack 1.3 miles before joining the Powder Reserve
Traverse for .8 miles to the base of the resort.  At just over two miles
total, this is one of the longest downhill races in the area.

The Dreamcatcher Chairlift will be closed
starting Tuesday, September 8 through Friday, September 11.  Competitors
will be allowed practice runs beginning at 9:00 am on Saturday, September
12.  The race will start at 11:00 am.  Each competitor will make two
runs and the top times from the first run will be seeded last for the second
run.  Final time will be the total time for both runs.  The second
run may be adjusted depending on field size. An entry fee of $30 includes
registration and a BBQ.  Sport and Expert classes only (no beginner
class), three age divisions in male category: 18 and under, 19-35 and 36+.
First, second and third place finishers in male/female categories will receive
prizes from race sponsors.
