Grand Targhee Resort announces opening day & events for Summer 2012

(Alta, WY – June 6, 2012)  Beginning June 22, Grand Targhee Resort will be open for the summer with a full schedule of events, great recreational programs, lodging deals and vacation packages, food and beverage options and an excellent festival line-up.

Summer in the Tetons is amazing, and Grand Targhee Resort is geared up to be your Break Away in the mountains. Whether looking to plan a family summer vacation, a Teton wedding, or a group conference and meeting get-a-way, Grand Targhee Resort has it covered. Guests can expect an entire array of amenities, including restaurants, lodging, retail shops, a fitness center, summer activities, and more!

Reservations are currently open daily and the Activity Center will be open daily starting June 22, with information on all resort and off-site regional activities. Scenic chairlift rides will take guests to summit via the Dreamcatcher Chairlift, where guests can view three states and see the best view of the Tetons. The lift hours of operation have been extended this summer and will operate 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday through Sunday. Single ride lift tickets will be $10 for adults, $20 for a full day and $6 for children ages 6 to 14 (children 5 and younger are free with paying parent). Season passes are also available for $49 and anyone purchasing a 2012-2013 winter season pass has access to summer lifts all summer long.

Both mountain bikers and hikers can use the chairlift to gain access to the many miles of trail systems. Mountain bikers can purchase a single ride/trail pass for $10 or an all-day lift/trail pass for $20 with cross-country bike and downhill bike rentals available on-site at Teton Mountain Outfitters. For those guests looking for a hiking experience, complimentary guided hiking tours with the Resort Naturalist will be available for daily interpretive outings at the new Summit Nature Center. Lift ticket purchase is required for Summit Nature Tours. 

Grand Targhee summer pool memberships are available for families and individuals to access Grand Targhee’s salt water swimming pool and hot tub. Family pool passes start at $349 and individual pool membership’s start at $199. Both are available for sale online.

Grand Targhee Resort is gearing up for its festival season with three major festivals highlighting Americana Music with the 8th Annual Targhee Fest on July 13 – 15, the Inaugural Targhee Country Fest on July 26 and 27 and the 25th Annual Grand Targhee Bluegrass Festival rounding out the season on August 10 – 12. Early bird tickets and passes are available online.

Additional featured events include the Inaugural Grand Targhee Resort Mill Creek Super Downhill developed in partnership with the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and Teton Valley Trails and Pathways, Pierre’s Hole 50/100 Mile Mountain Bike Race and the Targhee Enduro Mountain bike race.

For those looking to have a culinary experience and to get up and out of the Valley to experience some cool dining options Grand Targhee Resort restaurants will operate on the following schedule and have many special dinners and events planned throughout the summer.   • Trap Bar                  Thursdays -Saturdays 11:30am-8pm and Sunday 11:30am-5pm
  • Branding Iron          Daily 7:30am-9pm for breakfast, lunch and dinner service.

Grand Targhee Resort is offering several lodging packages to help make Grand Targhee a Break Away destination for guests to experience the full range of activities available in the Tetons. For those wishing to stay on-mountain Grand Targhee is offering a Lodging and Breakfast package starting at $129 per night that includes a fully made from scratch breakfast in the Branding Iron Grill for each night of lodging booked. The resort has also partnered with Maverick Gas Stations to provide the Ultimate Fuel-Up Lodging Package that includes lodging, breakfast and a $20 gas card at any Maverick Gas Station. For those looking for off-mountain lodging options Grand Targhee also offers vacation rentals conveniently located between the resort and Driggs on Ski Hill Road featuring a summer 4th Night Free package.
