(Alta, WY – January 27, 2014) Pierre's Hole, once known for fur trade in the Northern Rockies has always been a test of endurance, fortitude and strength. Racers from across the nation will descend upon Grand Targhee Resort on August 16, 2014 for the 6th Annual Pierre’s Hole 50/100 Mile Mountain Bike Race. August usually brings great weather and temperatures making for great race day. Amanda Carey who raced in the 2013 Pierre’s Hole 50 mile race said, "Andy Williams puts on one of the best events in the country. I'm excited to see it keep growing."

This race is a grueling testament of the Teton Mountains, riders’ endurance and mental strength. Over 180 racers from 20 different states showed up to race last year’s 50km, 50 mile or 100 mile races. The 100 mile race is part of the National Ultra Endurance series and consists of a 31-mile loop; each lap features over 3,000' of climbing on single and double-track trails. Total elevation for the 100 mile race is 9,000+'. The course consists of incredible views of the Grand Teton, mountain wild flower and challenging single track.

New for the 6th Annual race will be a two lap 100k race and a one lap 50k race. The new course layout also adds new single track and takes out the nasty climb from down at the ranch. The 2014 course will take racers through fields of wild flowers, aspen trees and old growth forest right in the shadows of the Tetons.

Registration for the 2014 Pierre’s Hole opened on January 24, 2014. For more information on the event visit GrandTarghee.com or contact Andy Williams at 307-353-2300.
