Grand Targhee Resort Invests 1.5 Million into the Resort and Guest Experience

(Alta, WY August 18, 2014) Following a successful winter and in the midst of a great summer, Grand Targhee Resort is investing $1.5 million into capital improvements. Grand Targhee Resort has been focused on enhancing the guest experience and is planning some great improvements for the future.

The resort started improvements this summer by adding new multi-use trails and rerouting several existing trails in their trail system. Trails include three new cross country trails, two new downhill and flow trails, as well as a new dedicated horse trail. The resort also opened a new skills park, ‘Pinball,’ in the base area where riders can practice and perfect skills needed while on the trail. To help with the construction of trails, the resort purchased a new Ditch Witch SK755 affectionately known as the ‘Mule’ confirming the resort’s dedication to enhancing the trail experience. This summer, the resort also launched a new Kids Club and Summer Camp program.

Other improvements that go unnoticed, but are dedicated to enhancing the guest experience include a complete kitchen renovation of the Branding Iron Grill and new mattresses in the lodging units. These projects were a start to some big plans to come this fall.

Beginning September 15, construction is scheduled to commence on Grand Targhee’s main plaza, where a new surface and heat system will be installed. This will help keep the main walkway free of snow and ice during the winter months. In addition, the resort will add new seating in Wild Bill’s Grill by expanding into the Arcade, creating room for a new Pizza Parlor dining outlet. Also planned is the increase in seating capacity in Rendezvous North and South Conference Rooms. In total, these changes will add approximately 130 new seats. These additions will help to provide ample seating on those snowy winter days.

The resort is investing in their ski and snowboard rental fleet with new equipment, will be adding boot dryers to all lodging rooms, replacing all coin operated lockers in Rendezvous Day Lodge, installing a new roof on Lodging Check-in, replacing the fitness equipment in the Fitness Cabin, and a complete renovation to the Powder Scouts facility. On mountain improvements include the purchase of a new winch cat (the third new groomer that has been added to the fleet in the past year); new terrain park features, glading and trail clearing on Ravenwood, Floyd’s Fantasy, and the Terrain Park; and adding a new cut-off on Dreamweaver with re-grading of Powder Reserve Traverse to gain easier access to base area.

Major construction projects and resort improvements are scheduled to begin September 15. Due to the nature of these construction projects the resort has decided to alter the September operating schedule. The resort will operate all services including daily operation of the Dreamcatcher chairlift through September 14. When construction begins on September 15, all services at the resort will be closed Monday through Friday. The resort will be open on Saturdays and Sundays through the end of September with access to Dreamcatcher, the Activity Center, Mountain Habitat, Teton Mountain Outfitters and the Trap Bar & Grill. The resort’s Central Reservations Call Center will remain open for season pass, activity and lodging reservations. Lodging is available during the off-season in the resort’s Vacation Rental properties located in Teton Valley. For details on operations during this time, please visit
