Nature Snowshoe Tours

Grand Targhee Resort in partnership with the Caribou-Targhee National Forest continues to offer guided snowshoe tours where guests learn about the forest, wildlife ecology, snow tracking, bird calls, the geology of the greater Yellowstone ecosystem, and history of the resort. The snowshoe tours last approximately 2 hours and are led by one of our Resort Naturalists. Tours are great for all ages and levels.

Please call 800.TARGHEE (827.4433) for reservations or stop by the Activity Center x 1355; meet at the Nature Center 10 minutes prior to your tour.

Nature Ski Tour

For those interested in doing an on-mountain nature tour, Nature Ski Tours led by our Resort Naturalist provides a unique experience. On this tour we’ll ride the Dreamcatcher or Shoshone chairlift to learn about the forest, local wildlife, the geology of the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem, and the history of the resort. Tours are approximately 1 to 1.5 hours long.

Guests must be an intermediate level or above.

Please make reservations through the Activity Center. 307.353.2300 x 1355 and meet at the Nature Center 10 minutes prior to your tour.

Wednesday Evening Nature Program - Starts December 14, 2014

For family fun in the evening, the Wednesday Evening Nature Program is a real après treat. Program topics include local birds, winter wildlife adaptations, and the unique geology and habitat of Grand Targhee and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. This 30-45 minute interactive program is for all ages, and will often feature pelts and skulls from our Nature Center.

Scenic Cat Ride with a Naturalist - Starts December 14, 2014

One of the hallmarks of the Grand Targhee Resort experience is a ride on one of our Snowcats complete with breathtaking views of the Grand Teton Mountains. Take in the breathtaking views of the Tetons from the comfort of a snow cat as it winds along the Snowdrift Loop in Ricks Basin.

  • Snacks and hot cocoa served
  • Saturdays 4:30pm

Groups, Schools and Special Tours Available

Our Nature Snowshoe Tours are perfect for a school or youth outing. Your students will be learning about the forest, wildlife, geology, and history of Grand Targhee Resort. We’ll help you customize a fun and educational day at the mountain.
