The Grand Targhee Resort Snowcat Adventures guide team are professional fun-seekers, known as the “Cat-Pack”, they are as passionate about showing guests a fun and safe time in our untracked bowls, ridges, and aspen glades as they are about insuring you find the deepest powder turns available in the Teton Mountains.
A former Silicon Valley entrepreneur, Richie turned his playtime pursuits into a professional cat skiing gig. After discovering the Tetons in 2002 Richie would make the annual pilgrimage to untracked powder right here at Grand Targhee. As guide and Targhee Snowcat Adventures Supervisor, Richie has the unique opportunity to ensure you have the best day of skiing possible. He is so dedicated to providing a top-notch guest experience he has been known to lend our guests one of his beloved deep powder snowboards from his quiver for exceptionally deep days. When the snow starts to melt, Richie escapes to Indonesia to surf Crowbar Reef until his secret Teton Valley fishing spots runs clear.
For the last 23 years, Beach has been a self-proclaimed migrant seasonal worker in the outdoor industry. Whether guiding western rivers and cooking at a wilderness hunting camp or putting you in the "pow zone" you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer guide anywhere. Beach appreciates all that the annual water cycle has to offer and has spent nearly 2 decades chasing whitewater around the globe, guiding in Idaho, Ecuador and Nepal before he finally settled in Teton Valley to manage the family ranch in Victor Idaho.
Renowned for his no-matter-the-weather cat skiing ensemble of mirrored aviator shades, no hat and icicled mountain man ‘stache Dana is the veteran of the Cat-Pack. He was born, raised and resides for most the year off the grid in a Sugar bush of Windsor, Vermont in a cabin he chainsawed into existence. Affectionately known as “Grumpy” to his three grandchildren, Dana’s 16 years with Grand Targhee Resort have earned him his reputation as one of the best and saltiest guides in the ski industry. A true legend who has a genuine love for all things ski, but mainly powder!
As one of the most photographed skiers in the Tetons, you’ve probably already laid eyes on EA in one of his numerous photo spreads in catalogs and Powder Magazines. When EA isn’t dialing in the perfect line and light in front of the camera, he is your guide to the very best the mountain has to offer on any given day. His enthusiasm and genuine appreciation for his fortunate lifestyle is the second most contagious thing on the powder cat, after 'powder fever'. EA has a lifetime of guiding under his belt with over 2 decades of guiding the South Fork of the Snake River and Henry's Fork along with wintering right here at Targhee.
A believer that any day on snow is a good day, Jenny leverages her 15 years of ski instruction experience to ensure that your cat skiing experience includes all the tips and tricks you need to enjoy a beautiful day out on a Snowcat Adventure.
At a young age, Jenny and her 3 sisters were turned loose to explore the mountain while her parents worked as ski instructors at Bogus Basin in Boise, Idaho. As a PSIA, level 3 ski instructor, Jenny traveled and taught at destination resorts including Schweitzer, Garmisch Germany, and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. When the snow melts, Jenny, her husband, daughter, and two golden retrievers enjoy downhill and cross-country mountain biking at Targhee and Teton Pass, backpacking the world, and exploring all the Greater Yellowstone has to offer.
Helen joins the Cat-Pack after five years with the Grand Targhee Resort Ski Patrol. A Georgia native, Helen is adding “farmer” to her list of occupations that includes rock climber and mountain biker. After a long season of farming Targhee powder, Helen turns her attention to farming a burgeoning veggie crop at an organic farm in Teton Valley.
Richie’s “brother from another mother” (both share the last name Carlson with no relation) is going on his 4th season with Targhee Snowcat Adventures. His love of cat skiing shows in his sincerity and laughter that fills the mountain valleys. When the snow melts he is a raft guide in the many tail-water rivers of central Idaho as well as father and husband to his wife and four young daughters.
Shannon Walsh, aka “Walshy”, answered the call of the slopes at the young age of 13 as a junior ski patroller in his native New Hampshire. At the end of a cat skiing season, Walshy sets off in search of surf, dirt, and open highways. Self appointed Targhee 'Fun Director', there isn't a person on the planet that can bring the enthusiasm and love of skiing that Walshy brings. He is a professor of ski zones from the high peaks of Alaska's Chugach to the endless divide of the Andes Mountains, and countless little sweet spots in between. Join Walshy and the 'Cat-Pack' on an adventure you'll not soon forget!
