Montana Enduro Series, Grand Enduro

2018 Details Coming Soon!
Presented by Grand Targhee Resort and Habitat
We’re excited to dip over the border once again and visit Grand Targhee Resort, with help from our friends at Habitat High Altitude Provisions. This race features two days of racing, and a treat you don’t want to miss: Mill Creek! We made you work for it last round at Silver Mountain, so we hope you enjoy a little taste of Super D flavor as we near the end of the season. Discounted lift passes ($25) will be available to pre-registered racers for Friday practice. The registration cut-off for discounted passes is 4:00 PM MDT on Thursday. Race-day passes are included in your registration and will be provided at check-in Saturday morning.
Don’t miss the Pre-Race Party on Friday night at Habitat High Altitude Provisions in downtown Driggs. After the race finishes on Sunday, we’ll have the awards ceremony at the Grand Targhee base area, conveniently next to the Trap Bar & Grill.
Special lodging rates are available, mention the Grand Enduro, Montana Enduro Series when calling Grand Targhee Resort Reservations at 800.TARGHEE to book your lodging at a discounted rate.

The 2017 Grand Enduro Course
Saturday:
Stage | Trail | Description |
---|---|---|
Stage 1 | Grand Traverse, Sidewinder, & Middle Sticks & Stones | The Dreamcatcher lift takes you to the top of Fred’s Mountain, where you’ll start Stage One near the top of the Grand Traverse. Try to keep your eyes on the trail, instead of the commanding view of the Grand Teton. Drop into Sidewinder to Middle Sticks & Stones, which is an old-school, hand-built festival of rocks and roots that will make you forget you’re in a bike park. The stage ends at the Powder Reserve Traverse Road. |
Transfer | Powder Reserve Traverse to Goat Path shortcut to top of 38 Special | |
Stage 2 | 38 Special | Cornering drills will pay off. This stage ends at the bottom of Peaked Mountain. |
Transfer | Out Mill Creek to Overlook | |
Stage 3 | Mill Creek | This trail takes you off the resort into the Teton sidecountry, and all the way down to the floor of Teton Canyon. It is an awesome three miles of classic ribbon singletrack with plenty of natural rock and root jump options. The stage ends at the trailhead by the Teton Canyon parking area. |
Transfer | Shuttle back to Grand Targhee Resort |
Sunday:
Stage | Trail | Description |
---|---|---|
Stage 4 | Rock Garden to Shoshone Road | The Dreamcatcher lift takes you to Rock Garden, the newest downhill trail at Grand Targhee. Rock Garden starts off rocky, loose and off-camber, and opens up into big tabletops to Shoshone Road. |
Transfer | Continue down Shoshone Road, then up Teton Vista Traverse to Lower Bullwinkle | |
Stage 5 | Lower Bullwinkle | Take Teton Vista Traverse Road up to the intersection of Lower Bullwinkle’s giant flow trail. |
Transfer | Powder Reserve Traverse to intersection of Lower Sticks & Stones | |
Stage 6 | Lower Sticks & Stones | Drop into Lower Sticks & Stones, which is an old-school, hand-built festival of rocks and roots that will make you forget you’re in a bike park. The stage ends at the bottom of the Dreamcatcher lift. |
As always, the course is also published on Trailforks: Day 1 and Day 2. We recommend downloading the Trailforks mobile app to navigate during practice. The app has a tab for “My Routes;” if you add the route to your wishlist in a browser, it will show up as one of your routes in the app.
Race Timing
The MES has gone fully touch-less this season. You will be riding at full speed through the gates. While this means that you’re no longer responsible for your timing punches at the start and finish of each stage, you are responsible for following our procedures for checking in and heading out to the course. We need this in order to make sure that everyone’s timing chip is switched on and activated. With the length of the course and a sold-out event, we will be starting on timed intervals this year. We are still allowing self-seeding so that friends can chase each other and transfer together, but we strongly recommend that Pro, Expert and sporty Sport riders make sure to be towards the front. Pro racers will be the first up the lift on both mornings.
Grand Targhee has an awesome network of cross-country trails in addition to their downhill network, so friends and family can get out for some great rides, hikes, or runs while you’re practicing or racing.
Lodging
GTR offers 20% off lodging discount to participants. You need to call (800-827-4433) and mention that you are participating in the Montana Enduro Series.
