Winter is Here to Stay in the Tetons

With a series of storms battering Grand Targhee through this week, it is time to do battle with Winter again. Monday’s storm brought 8” to the hill in 24 hours’ time, putting our base depth at 58” and our year total snowfall at 131″. With that, this mid week and weekend’s forecast gives all the more reason to put away those skinny skis and boards and, instead, opt for those mighty powder-slaying sticks.

Mother Nature will retreat on Thursday, bringing temperatures in the 20s and a bluebird day to the hill. Get those high visibility runs and views of the Tetons in, because relentless she is indeed. The forecast is calling for light snow throughout Thursday night and Friday, while excitement builds for the strong storm that is heading our way, hitting through the tail end of the weekend, and on into Monday. It’s still early to know which way Mother Nature will go, but Powder Chasers’ more detailed report does gives reason to why you may be calling out sick Monday. One thing is for certain this week though; the powder should be deep, and the smiles contagious, as the return to the snow-filled days shines through every riders’ eyes.
