E-Bike Access at Grand Targhee Resort

Grand Targhee Resort welcomes Pedal Assist (no throttles) on select cross-country trails in the Rick’s Basin trail network. Our goal is simple: make the backcountry experience more accessible while maintaining a safe, respectful environment for all trail users.

E-bikes are not permitted on downhill bike trails and must remain within designated Rick’s Basin cross-country routes.

Rick’s Basin is a shared trail system, used by hikers, trail runners, and traditional ANALOG mountain bikers. Responsible riding ensures everyone can enjoy the trails.

  • Control Your Speed
    • E-bikes allow riders to travel farther and faster, but speed should match trail conditions and traffic.
    • Ride at a safe and controlled speed
    • Slow down when approaching corners, climbs, or limited visibility
    • Reduce speed when passing other trail users
  • Yield to Other Trail Users
    • Rick’s Basin trails are shared with hikers, runners, and traditional  ANALOG mountain bikers.
  • Follow standard multi-use trail etiquette:
    1. Bikes yield to hikers and trail runners
    2. Descending riders yield to climbing riders
    3. Announce yourself before passing --- A friendly “On your left!” helps keep the trails safe and enjoyable for everyone.
  • Pass with Courtesy
    • Slow down before approaching. Give other users time to respond
    • Pass only when it is safe and the trail is wide enough
    • Offer a friendly thank-you when you pass

    • E-bikes increase access to our trail system, and responsible use helps keep them welcome.
    • Stay on designated trails
    • Avoid riding on wet or muddy trails
    • Respect wildlife and the natural environment
    • Ride within your ability and maintain control of your bike
