We’ve partnered with Leigh Creek Outfitters to offer one and two hour guided trail rides through the breathtaking Caribou-Targhee National Forest, right from Grand Targhee Resort. Whether you're a first-time rider or a seasoned cowboy, this adventure is perfect for guests 8 years and older.
Ride Details & Requirements
- Availability: Thursday - Sunday, 9:00am - 3:00pm
- Small Group Rides: Maximum of 6 riders per group, with a minimum of 2 required to depart.
- Weather Policy: Rides go rain or shine but will be rescheduled or canceled in case of lightning or poor trail conditions.
- Age Policy: Riders ages 8-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

The one and two hour rides are peaceful rides at the basecamp of Grand Targhee that follow quiet trails alongside the creek with beautiful water features and mountain views. Ideal for kids or anyone wanting to experience horseback riding without spending all day in the saddle.

Private Rides Available
Looking for a more personal, uninterrupted experience on the trail? We offer private rides for guests who want the trail to themselves—whether you're celebrating something special or just prefer a quieter ride. Unless a private ride is reserved in advance, groups may be paired with other riders.
HOW TO BOOK
Booking your ride is easy. Just click the “Book Now” button on the Leigh Creek site to browse available dates and ride options through our secure booking platform. You’ll choose how long you’d like to ride, the number of riders, and any add-ons available. Riders must be at least 8 years old, and the maximum rider weight is 280 lbs. If you’re unsure what ride is the best fit for your group or if you have special requests—like younger riders or mixed experience levels—feel free to reach out before booking. Once booked, you’ll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to know, including where to meet, what to bring, and what time to arrive.
CHECK-IN
Please check in at the Activity Center when you arrive. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled ride time.
Parking for horseback rides will be located in Lot 3. Please follow the signs for the stables and look out for the flag.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations made at least 72 hours in advance will be charged a $25 processing fee per rider. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the session date, or no shows, will forfeit the total cost of the session.
