Our Private Lessons are customized experiences catered to your individual needs and abilities. This offers all of the flexibility geared toward improving your skills on the slopes. Personalized instruction will send your skiing and riding to an entirely different level, that we can assure you.

Bring a friend, your family, or opt for one-on-one instruction. And if availability allows, you can even request your favorite instructor. It’s your lesson, after all.

EARLY UP EXPERIENCE

This is your time to experience the Ghee before the public, all while receiving professional coaching from our top-class instructors. Interested? Here are the details.

Your day will start at 8:30am, where you’ll enjoy runs off the Blackfoot chair until 9:00am. From here, take your lesson around the mountain and sharpen your skills on and off groomed terrain. This is your lesson, so make the most of it with professional instructors. If you’re keen, head out for a hike up Mary’s and over to Peaked.

Add-On for only $150. Reserve at least 24 hours in advance. Only available in conjunction with Full Day and Morning Half Day Private Lessons.

How to Book

You can book online or by calling the Mountain Sports School at at 307-353-2300 x1358. Before you start the booking process, please gather the following information for each skier/snowboarder:

  • Discipline
  • Ability level
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Sign our Winter Activities Liability Waiver

 If booking over the phone, please email this information ahead of time to snowsportsschool@grandtarghee.com to expedite your booking process.

Check-In

Please check in at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the lesson at the Private Lessons Meeting Area next to the Mountain Sports School office - look for the orange sign that says "PRIVATE LESSONS MEET HERE".  Our staff and instructors will meet you there to complete the check-in process and lesson meet and greet. Please sign our Winter Liability Waiver in advance. Skiers and snowboarders must be dressed, geared up and ready to start the lesson. All students must have lift ticket or season pass ready. 

Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to sign a release form if it has not already been completed online.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations made at least 72 hours in advance will be charged a $25 processing fee per lesson. Cancellations made within 72 hours of service date, or no shows will forfeit the total cost of the lesson. Every effort will be made to reschedule individual lessons with 72-hour advance notice, change is subject to availability. An additional fee may apply for lesson changes.

AGE POLICY

Please understand and respect our Lesson Age requirements as they are in place for the health and safety of our staff and our guests. Please note: if you misrepresent your child’s age purposefully or by mistake, the lesson you booked will be treated as a ‘day of cancellation’ which means the entire lesson fee is forfeited, unless we are able to rebook the lesson as an age-appropriate option.

ABILITY LEVEL

LEVEL 1: Never ever

Terrain: Beginner Conveyer, flat to gentle slopes
I've never skied or snowboarded, but I'm excited to learn!

LEVEL 2: BEGINNER + 

Terrain: Beginner conveyer + Shoshone Chairlift, gentle slopes to easy Greens

Alpine: I've skied before and know the basics like sliding, slightly changing directions and coming to a stop. 

Snowboard: I've snowboarded before. I feel pretty good at sliding, doing the falling leaf and knowing basics like using body movements to go from toe side to heel side, can stop and fall safely. 

LEVEL 3: NOVICE

Terrain: Shoshone Chairlift, easy green to difficult green

Alpine: I'm gaining confidence in my abilities and can link my turns together smoothly. I'm comfortable on a chairlift, can ski various sized turns on green terrain and can maintain consistent speeds. 

Snowboard: I'm gaining confidence in my abilities and can smoothly link my turns on green terrain while controlling my speed through my turns. I'm comfortable on a chairlift and able to traverse a catwalk on one edge.

LEVEL 4: INTERMEDIATE

Terrain: All mountain, easy blue to difficult blue

Alpine: I'm consistently skiing mostly parallel turns and maintaining consistent speed on blue terrain. I also know how and when to use. my poles. I'm ready to explore areas of the mountain and feel ready to ski off trail. 

Snowboard: I'm consistently using body movements to control my turns while maintaining consistent speed on blue terrain. I can easily change from my toe edge to heel edge with slight movements while traversing. I'm ready to explore more areas of the mountain and feel ready to snowboard off trail.

LEVEL 5: ADVANCED/Expert

Terrain: All mountain, difficult blue to double black 

Alpine: I'm very confident on my equipment in any situation on the mountain. I ski parallel turns and can keep the same speed the entire time. I know how to navigate groomed and un-groomed trails. I am working to finesse my skiing abilities in various types of terrain and snow conditions. 

Snowboard: I'm very confident on my equipment in any situation on the mountain. I know how to blend all the fundamentals of snowboarding as needed and can keep the same speed the entire time. I am comfortable navigating groomed and un-groomed trails. I am working to finesse my snowboarding abilities in various types of terrain and snow conditions.

Starting Monday April 22nd, UPHILL TRAVEL WILL BE CLOSED  Monday – Thursday until further notice. 

Friday - Sunday the snow access at the base area will be limited due to ongoing construction projects. The recommended uphill route it the Teton Vista Traverse. Active heavy equipment, winch cables and other dangerous equipment will be on the mountain, so please ski with caution at all times.
