Snowpack Update: What's in Store for 2026

The season came late this year, but now we are back to the same old Targhee

This season got off to a slow start, but December storms brought the goods! Since opening day, Targhee has been firing on all cylinders, and we have the photo evidence to prove it.

"Targhee doesn't have secret powder stashes - WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU SKI."

The snow showed up!

We are proud to be one of the few resorts whose natural snowfall can open all our terrain in a matter of weeks. During average seasons, we can expect this to happen before the middle of December, but this year, Mother Nature was a little late. After 50" of snowfall over the last two weeks, Targhee is 98% open. With more snow in the forecast this week, we can expect to see the blank pages of Targhee's landscape filled in.

Targhee doesn't have inflated snow totals or secret pow stashes for the elite. We have one of the most consistent and reliable snowpacks of any resort in the country. Powder to the people!

Members of the public have reported multiple bears feeding on a carcass near Colter's Escape trail. Colter's Escape is closed, but this is a timely reminder that bears can be encountered anywhere on the mountain and are especially active late summer and fall in preparation for winter
