Pass protection information for the 26/27 Season

We want to see you on the slopes but understand that the unexpected happens, which may impact your ability to ride with us. New for the 26/27 season, all winter Season Passholders will get the benefit of Pass Protection Insurance, which allows qualifying passholders to receive a monetary credit for the remaining balance on their season pass.

All Pass Protection claims, inquiries, documentation, and emails must be collected before March 1, 2027. Any requests received on or after March 1,2027 will be rejected. Please compile the necessary documentation and reach out to our team ASAP so that we can assist you.

Our winter Season Passes are non-refundable and non-transferrable, even in circumstances of temporary or permanent relocation. We would love to have you join us for winter 26/27, but please take this into consideration before investing in a pass with Grand Targhee!

What is pass protection?

Pass Protection is included in every Season Pass. It gives Grand Targhee Season Passholders the opportunity to get credit towards their 27/28 Season Pass under qualifying circumstances as defined below. Pass Protection requests must be received before March 1, 2027.

Am i eligible for pass protection credit?

Policy

Pass Protection is for the passholder only and does not extend to family members, including a spouse, domestic partner, child, spouse’s child, domestic partner’s child, sibling, parent, grandparent, grandchild, step-relative, or in-law.

Pass Protection is designed to cover guests for up to nine (9) days of use. If an eligible circumstance prevents a passholder from utilizing their pass for the remainder of the 26/27 winter season, the passholder may be eligible for a credit.

To be considered for a claim, passholders must provide supporting documentation verifying the qualifying circumstance.

Exclusions from coverage:

A credit towards your 27/28 Season Pass will not be granted:

  2. If your claim is submitted after March 1, 2027.

Non-covered circumstance - Any exceptions?

No exceptions can be made. Because pass protection is built into all passes, only qualified circumstances will be considered for credit. For example, some circumstances not covered include a poor weather year, a decision not to use the pass, or a change in travel plans.

The Resort reserves the right to reject a claim if any relevant information is false, omitted, or if the claim is submitted after the March 1 deadline.

Required documentation

Please attach official documentation when submitting a claim on your Season Pass. Claims with no documentation attached will result in longer processing times and may be rejected. Examples of acceptable documentation can be found below:

  1. Unforeseen Injury or Illness: A medical provider's verified statement on an official letterhead.
  1. Caretaking of Another Qualified Grand Targhee Season Passholder: An official diagnosis stating that the patient requires a caretaker or a letter from the patient’s medical provider stating that there is a caretaker required.
  1. Pregnancy: A medical provider's verified statement on an official letterhead.
  1. U.S. Military Service: Notice of Induction, Service Commitment, or Enlistment Contract.
  1. Relocation: A letter from your new employer, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Assignment, or completed USPS change of address.

how is pass protection credit calculated?

Pass Protection credit is determined by the number of days skied or ridden on your pass. As usage increases, the credit amount decreases accordingly.

If your pass has not been used, you are eligible to receive a credit for 100% of the purchase price of your 26/27 Season Pass. For partially used passes, the credited amount is calculated as a percentage of the Season Pass price based on total days used. For example, if a passholder has used their pass for 3 days, they would receive a credit of approximately 80% of the total Season Pass price.

Days ridden are determined by lift scans. One or more scans on the same date count as one day used.

To be eligible for a credit, the Season Pass must have been used fewer than 10 days during the 26/27 winter season.

The team will reach out to confirm and/or request additional information. If you need to get in touch with us, please email seasonpass@grandtarghee.com.

Simply let the representative know that you have an account credit you wish to redeem, and they can apply it to your purchase.

Lodging and On-Site Dining Exception

Please note that to purchase items at our on-mountain restaurants or to purchase lodging, we must move this credit balance onto a Grand Targhee Gift Card. Stop by the Activity Center and a representative can assist you. Grand Targhee Gift Cards are the same as cash and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen.

why might my claim be denied?

  • You submitted your claim after March 1, 2027, and/or did not include required documentation. All claims must be received before this date to be eligible.
  • You are not affected by one of the qualifying circumstances. There will be no exceptions outside of these criteria such as changing travel plans, choosing not to utilize your pass, or a poor snow season.
  • You have ridden more than 9 days on your pass. After 9 days of use, there is no remaining balance to credit.

*The Resort reserves the right to reject a claim if any relevant information is false, omitted, or if the claim is submitted after the March 1 deadline.*

i do not want the credit, can i get a refund?

No. Season Passes are non-refundable and non-transferrable. The Pass Protection program is designed to get guests back on the slopes after a temporary interruption to one season of riding.

If you have a career-ending injury or illness that will prevent you from riding with Grand Targhee in the future, please reach out directly to our team at seasonpass@grandtarghee.com. These inquiries are of a different caliber and are handled by management. Important: Guests who receive approval for a refund are not eligible to purchase another season pass with Grand Targhee.

Can i get my credit refunded?

Credits are not refundable. Your credit does not expire and if you believe you will not be able to utilize the balance, we are happy to assist you in transferring this amount to another Grand Targhee guest.

can i file multiple times?

The Pass Protection program is designed to accommodate guests for one season, in which something unexpected happens. Grand Targhee reserves the right to deny a claim if a guest is abusing* the system season over season.

Please reach out to our staff at seasonpass@grandtarghee.com to discuss options if you foresee needing to file repeatedly and they can provide information to support your decision.

*This includes but is not limited to filing more than two seasons in a row and/or requesting policy exceptions for more than 2 seasons in a row.
