Your Guide to Bluegrass Festival 2019
Whether its your first or your 32nd, here’s a quick list for some favorite activities you need to check out at Grand Targhee Resort’s Annual Bluegrass Festival! Cross each item off your list to maximize your bluegrass experience. Pro-Tip: Remember to bring the lawn games, sun tents, and hiking boots!
Yoga: Bring the zen to your weekend. Wake up and stretch with your friends before heading to the venue. Festival Yoga is offered on the Teewinot lawn at 10:00am Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. Register at the Activity Center for $20. Bring your own mat or rent one for $5. Instructors are from the valley and teach locally at Humming Bird Yoga. This is all part of the new public yoga series, Yoga on the Summit offered Thursday & Sunday mornings.
The Scenic Lift: Take advantage of Grand Targhee Resort’s easiest and most relaxing way to reach the summit of Fred’s Mountain. Beat the heat and enjoy the spectacular views, blues skies, and clear mountain air. Once up top, enjoy a hike, trail run, or simply bask in the splendor of the Tetons. Make sure to visit the Resort Naturalist and learn about the flora and fauna of the area.
Bannock Trail: Cinch up those fanny packs (they’re back in fashion), top off the water bottles, lace up your hiking boots, and take a hike up the mountain. The Bannock Trail is open for the summer season and the scenery is gorgeous. This hike to the summit of Fred’s Mountain takes approximately two hours with 2,000′ of elevation gain. Once at the summit, soak in the views and return to the base area via Bannock or take the Dreamcatcher lift down.
Festival Mugs: A collectors item that goes the distance! Bring one from a past festival or purchase one at the show and fill it up as you party on! Our festival mugs, while being better for the environment, give you larger pours of beer, wine, or cocktails all weekend.
Mountain Biking: There is no better way to pass the day before the gates open or between sets than to explore new trails or hit up old favorites. Check out the trail updates and get pedaling!
Hula Hoops: Stay in the loop and bring your hoop.
Sunset Music Set: The sunsets at Grand Targhee are amazing! Jam to your favorite bands as day turns to night. Eventually the stars will appear and the day’s headliner keeps the party going until 10pm.
Festival Poster or Band T-shirt: If you didn’t get the T-shirt, did you even go? Don’t forget to grab proof of your visit before they run out!
Sunday Shenanigans: What’s better than a Sunday show? Check out the Lil Smokies and close out the day with Railroad Earth with all your new festival friends. Don’t forget that a lot of the vendors will put out some great deals on Sunday so keep your eyes open while your ears are busy.
