A running tradition for a great cause.

Logo

We’re ready for the 2024 Wrun for Wray Targhee Hill Climb and hope you are too! We are looking forward to seeing you Saturday morning, June 22, 2024 for a 10:00 am start at the Grand Targhee Resort base area!

Course

The roughly 3-mile uphill run starts at the base of the Dreamcatcher chairlift and climbs 1840' to the top of Fred's Mountain. It follows the single-track Bannock Trail, (or the Teton Vista Traverse if snow pack is an issue on the trail). The course will feature a water station at roughly 1 mile and at the finish line. The course will be marked with pink florescent tape, flags, and paint.

Registration is $40 in advance and $50 on race day. Day-of race registration and racer packet pickup will be from 8:30 to 9:45 am.

Info and Tips
  • We will hold a brief racer meeting at 9:50 am at the race start
  • Every competitor should plan on carrying a water bottle or hydration system as the trail is 100% exposed, the weather could be extreme and is entirely at altitude (8,000 - 10,000 ft)
  • There will be clothes drop sag bags located near the Dreamcatcher lift. Be sure to leave some warm clothes there. The top is always much colder than the base area. Your clothes will be at the top when you arrive
  • Chairlift rides back to the base area are free.
  • If you are unable to finish, be sure to tell the course sweepers. They will follow the last competitor up the trail
  • If you need medical attention, check in with an aid station volunteers or the course sweepers. They will have communications with Grand Targhee.
  • There are restrooms at the race start area and porta potties at the finish.

History

The Wrun is held in memory of Wray Landon who died in an avalanche on the South Teton in 2010. All proceeds from the Wrun and raffle go to the Wray Landon Legacy Fund at the Teton Regional Land Trust.
