Where is Grand Targhee Resort located?
Grand Targhee Resort is located in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest, 42 miles west of Jackson Hole, Wyoming and 87 miles northeast of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Grand Targhee is an excellent base camp for a tour of the region including trips to Yellowstone National Park, approximately 90 miles to the north or Teton National Park to the east.
What are the closest airports?
Both Jackson Hole, Wyoming (JAC) and Idaho Falls, Idaho (IDA) airports are approximately 90 minutes driving time from the resort. Salt Lake City, Utah (SLC) is approximately 5.5 hours driving time from the resort.
Do I need a rental car?
Most guests use our convenient fee based shuttle service from the closest airports in the winter, but if you want the flexibility to make day trips, a rental car is a good option. All the major car rental agencies are located at both airports.
How far is the nearest town with a grocery store and other services?
Driggs, Idaho is just 12 miles from the resort and offers all the conveniences needed including a large grocery store. Grand Targhee Resort has a General Store right in the base area for convenience items and small sundries.
Is the lodging ski-in/ski-out?
All lodging at Grand Targhee Resort is conveniently ski-in/ski-out. Our off-site vacation rental lodging is just 8-12 miles from the resort.
Can I bring my pet to Grand Targhee Resort?
- We encourage you to leave your pets at home or at a local kennel.
- Pets must be directly supervised by an adult at all times while at Grand Targhee Resort.
- Pets must be on a leash or tethered at all times. Do not tie your pet to trees, posts, fences, tables or other resort structures.
- Pets are not allowed in buildings.
- We encourage you to take your pet on daily outings. It is acceptable to leave your pet in your trailer/motor-home as long as it is not a nuisance to your neighbor.
- Pets may not be left unattended in locked vehicles.
- All pet owners are responsible and expected to pick up and dispose of pet waste. Failure to do so will result in a verbal warning and removal from the resort grounds.

Do you have guest laundry facilities?
Yes, there are coin-operated facilities conveniently located in the base of Sioux Lodge.
Do you have internet access available for guests?
Yes, we provide an internet kiosk at our lodging front desk, with wireless access available in all Targhee, Teewinot, and Sioux Lodge rooms plus the lobby of Teewinot Lodge.
What time is check-in/check-out for lodging?
Check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM.
How long is the summer season?
Grand Targhee Resort usually opens for full summer operations the first weekend in June and closes mid-September; however, we have lodging available year-round with our off-site vacation rentals just 8-12 miles from the resort.
Does Grand Targhee Resort have snow making equipment?
Yes, we do; however, it collects dust most of the year. We use it only in the early season at the bottom of two chair lifts to create enough snow to facilitate loading. The rest of the year we rely solely on snow from heaven.
Do I have to know how to ski and ride powder to enjoy Grand Targhee Resort?
No, we offer groomed trails with enough variety and characteristics to keep you smiling for your whole stay. However, our terrain, snow, and instructors make it very easy to learn how to enjoy off-piste skiing and riding.
What are the weather and conditions like in early season, winter and spring?
Located in the Teton Range, Grand Targhee Resort experiences typical mountain weather with heavy snowfall in the early season continuing through the winter. With over 500″ of snow a year, you can expect storm cycles to come through the area regularly with glorious sunny days filling in the rest of the time. Spring skiing conditions typically arrive in late March with spring storms always a possibility to bring more powder and then blue skies.
Can I make a reservation for Ski & Snowboard School lessons?
Yes, and in fact it is encouraged. Group lessons begin at 10:00 AM and then again at 1:00 PM. Private lessons are scheduled at your convenience.
Do you provide mountain tours?
Yes, we offer complimentary mountain tours daily at 11:00 AM meeting at the base of Dreamcatcher lift.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes, we extend a discounted lift ticket for active duty military personnel. With an active duty military I.D., you can enjoy a full day lift ticket at our half day rate.
Do you have an ATM?
Yes, it is located in the base area inside the Rendezvous Lodge as you enter Wild Bill’s Grill.
Which of the lodging facilities have rooms with a refrigerator?
Sioux Lodge Suites and all Vacation Condominiums, Townhomes, and Homes.
Can I put all my purchases during our stay on my room bill?
