At Grand Targhee Resort, we are committed to providing the highest quality experience for our visitors. For us, quality includes being responsible to the local and global communities of people and nature that make our resort so unique.
Just as these communities create for the resort an opportunity to thrive, Targhee recognizes the need and responsibility to play an active role in ensuring their long term health and vitality. To that end, Grand Targhee Resort Management and Employees are committed to a process of continual learning and improvement in pursuit of fiscally attainable and truly sustainable operations.
Specifically, we are working in the following areas to balance social, economic, and environmental priorities to promote a more beautiful and healthy future for our communities:
THE NATIONAL SKI AREA ASSOCIATION'S CLIMATE CHALLENGE IS A COLLECTIVE OF 49 SKI AREAS/RESORTS FROM ACROSS THE USA DEDICATED TO SUSTAINABILITY AND CLIMATE ACTION
Sustainability Stats? We have them
Projects include an annual donation to Protect Our Winters, funding for Rendezvous Upper Elementary School 5th Grade National Park trips, shuttle vehicle wraps promoting Protect Our Winters and the GTR shuttle service, NO IDLING signs at GTR parking, shuttle stop improvements, and the Fall River/Teton High school Wind & Solar Project.
Over 500 light bulbs in our base area and on-mountain facilities were replaced with newer, more efficient bulbs. Incandescent bulbs were upgraded to CFLs and LEDs, while fluorescent T12 bulbs were switched to T8s. These upgrades saved more than 172,000 kWh and 37 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
Since 2008 Grand Targhee has conducted an opt-in payroll deduction fund for donations to Protect Our Winters and local sustainability/education initiatives. Employees can donate $1+ per paycheck that is %100 matched from GTR. Lodging guests can donate as well.
