Grand Targhee Resort has committed to reducing its environmental footprint. Here are some recent completed projects that will help us achieve our goal:
2019 – New doors in the chairlift houses to better insulate/programmable heaters installed to replace inefficient units.
2019 – Installation of a new networking monitoring/automation equipment for the Water Treatment and Snowmaking operations assisted staff in running their departments more efficiently by managing water usage systems remotely
2019 – IT department created a new program to automatically shut down base area computers every night, leading to an estimated 50,000 kWh in electricity savings.
2018 – POW Carpool Challenge throughout February. Guests who carpooled on
the weekends were then entered into weekly drawings where they could win prizes
2018 – Grand Targhee Resort integrated sustainability efforts into all employee training and orientation materials, as well as in our lodging information. Guest and employee education participation is strong with Resort Naturalist-led snowshoe
tours, summer hikes, and staffing a year-round Nature Center.
2016 – Lighting Retrofit: Over 500 light bulbs in our base area and on-mountain facilities were replaced with newer, more efficient bulbs. Incandescent bulbs were upgraded to CFLs and LEDs, while fluorescent T12 bulbs were switched to T8s. These upgrades saved more than 53,000 kWh and 37 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
